Dead End Crimescene

Having mainly focused my artwork on character designs and illustrations, I felt that it was time to start developing environment pieces for my portfolio.
I decided to look back through my projects, and was reminded of an older illustration titled 'Dead End 2'.
I have always wanted to delve into the story behind the illustration, so this gave me the perfect opportunity to do that.
The idea was to have two contrasting scenes, with props featured in them. As this project is a work in progress, I will go on to develop these props next.

In this scene I wanted to create a dark and cold atmosphere. The former detective has taken it upon himself to find a prevalent serial killer.

I wanted to give a different perspective to the crime scene. By setting the scene on a crisp winter morning, this gives an entirely different feel to what would have been a scary and dramatic event the night before.

The project was inspired by such TV as True Detective and FARGO.

By downloading models online I was able to save a lot of time in Blender. I also created my own displacement map for the snow. This was my first attempt, so there is a lot of room for improvement.
