Jungle environment

Since getting feedback on my portfolio, one thing that was obvious was my lack of environment pieces.
This is the first of several environments that I plan to do as I want to strengthen this area within my skillset.
The idea for this piece was to create an environment that my Jungle warrior character would fit into.

I'm happy to say that I received some incredible feedback on this piece which really helped me refine the final image.

Final version. I was fortunate to get more feedback on this piece. The flower needed to be more convincing, I also needed to add more depth which would help lead the eye into the painting.

Initial thumbnail designs. I practiced using simple shapes and values to create interesting compositions and depth within each piece. Number 3 felt strongest so I decided to refine this image.
